Windmill Harbor![]() Windmill Harbor is a boating and residential plantation on the northwest corner of Hilton Head Island, opening onto Calibogue Sound.
It is the largest and best protected harbor on the island and features a lock which allows for the maintenance of the same water level in the harbor at all times. This is also the home of the South Carolina Yacht Club, seen at left.
To the right is a view toward the sound from east of the clubhouse, and below, an aerial view of the lock system.
There are 258 boat slips, ranging from 30 feet to over 70 feet, enjoying the absence of tidal currents in this harbor. The boating community splits about evenly between sail and power. Visit the web site at WindmillHarbor.Org
